Hello and welcome!

My name is Kate and I am a comedian and writer from Massachusetts currently based in New York City.

My sassy, awesome, and beautiful mom Martha, age 55, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on June 14, 2006. In her honor, I am running the Maine Half-Marathon to raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer.

My original goal was to raise $3000 by October 1st. I reached this goal on July 10th, 4 days after launching my site. I plan on continuing to raise as much money as possible, working in $1000.00 increments. When I raise $4000.00, I will work to raise $5000.00, and so forth. All money raised will go toward Pancreatic Cancer Research at Mass General Hospital in Boston.

As of August 19, 2006, over $8000 has been raised!

Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in America and has the #1 fatality rate of all cancers – over 30,000 people pass away from the disease each year. In light of these horrible statistics, Pancreatic Cancer is woefully under-funded – only 1% of the National Cancer Institute’s 4.8 billion dollar budget goes to researching this aggressive cancer. This MUST change. WE NEED YOUR HELP – even a dollar is a huge contribution!
